Argentina Trip - March/April 07:

Helen Kelly has just returned from a lengthy visit to Argentina where she took part in St. Patrick’s Day festivities with various Irish groups in Buenos Aires city. Among the many events that she attended, were celebrations at the Hurling Club in the Buenos Aires suburb of Hurlingham, and at the Fahy Club in the city of Buenos Aires. She also visited San Antonio d’Areco and Mercedes in the Province of Buenos Aires and met with various groups in these key Irish settlement areas.

On the 1st April, she was pleased to attend as a guest at a Cullen family reunion in Buenos Aires. This re-union – attended by over 700 persons – was a remarkable celebration of Irish Heritage and a fine tribute to Domingo Cullen who in 1811 came to Argentina from the Canary Islands. A Cullen family history entitled Los Cullen:Irland, Canarias Y Argentina compiled by Dr Iván J.M. Cullen and assisted by Dr Juan Cullen Salazar, Lic. Antonio Jose L. Hernández, Prof. Alejandro Damianovich, Prof. Maria Lucila Cullen de Ibarlin and Prof. Maria Celina Cullen de Graffione, was launched at the reunion.
